In the UK, there's a saying - football-related - "Who Ate All The Pies?", which has its roots in the traditional meat pie served at football games. (i.e. if there's a fat player, or opposing fan, he is fair game to have 'Who Ate All The Pies?" sung to him) - more here.
Anyway that's just by way of background so Americans might understand how amused I was to see a (fat) guy in Morrison's the other night wearing a T-shirt that said
I generally prefer pie to cake, but cheesecake is in it's own little dessert wonderland. A good cheesecake is one of the most decadent things you can eat.
I have never yet met a cheesecake I didn't like... although I am highly suspicious about that azuki bean one.
Will have to try that recipe, Hugh Janus- it looks like a deliciously enhanced version of the Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa that bewildered and amused me as a kid through dozens of re-watchings of Steel Magnolias.
My mom omitted the condensed milk/brown sugar topping in favor of a little extra brown sugar/nut crunch. Served with Cool Whip, it was my birthday cake for decades.

Trader Joe's cheesecake is (or was, it's been years since I've had it) great. Thawed frozen raspberries make the best topping - the tartness is a great counter to the sweet of the cheesecake.
