What's the dumbest thing you've ever read on the Internet? →[More:]There is no opinion so stupid or outrageous that it doesn't have adherents on the Internet. Add anonymity to the ease of publishing and you've got an awful lot of stupid shit out there.

So what's the most fuck-witted thing you've ever read on the Internet? Please note that I'm not looking for something you disagree with or a round of MeFi-style partisan pissing matches. This has to be over-the-top, batshit insane. I'm looking for goofiness taken to an inspired level.

Here's mine, from a weightlifting site:

You can still read dumb shit I was posting on usenet 15 years ago, which is not in and of itself the absolute dumbest shit on the internet but the lack of caution involved in posting it is head-smackingly stupid.

Also, at 140 pounds, I feel a little stunned by the news. Gosh! It seems kind of late in life to start learning... womanly arts and things. Or whatever is involved.

I think I rented that once.

As for dumb, boy howdy. I've been online since the 1980s, kids, so I've seen pretty much everything.

My personal current sink of dumb is the local news rag's comments section. You would imagine that the average person would know, for example, that the county jail is not part of the city budget. You would be wrong. And so forth. The neanderthal meanderings about stringing up this or that criminal are probably just inadequacy fantasies, but the sheer ignorance about the basics of the American legal system, considering they are broadly displayed on the telly vision device, boggles.

I hated this town when I got out the first time. Sheesh.

A few years ago, when you'd google my name the first thing that would come up was a Simpsons web site (converted from usenet) that discussed each episode in detail...and my comment, "Yes, I too think that Mr. Smithers is gay!"

Thankfully, I've gotten more of a life since then, and it doesn't show up on the front page anymore.
