So long, Moon. What are some of your more epic dreams? Dreams where you travel to remote locations that seem so real... [More:]

Or, if you prefer, what do you think it would be like to live on the moon? Have you ever thought about it? How did you imagine it: Delightfully retrofuture, mercilessly commercialized, brutal and gritty? Or just magical?
And in the fine and long-standing tradition of musically derailing my own posts: The Misheard Lyrics version of Heartbeats.

So long light and the red balloon

An insect's view of crawling in O'Hare,
My hazy eyes reveal the trip's intent,
Mind skip! - And then I hold the stolen prize,
The new transformer, wrapped and in my hand.

This dream's from elementary school, because that's the last dream I really remember. And I was an Animorph! It only takes me an hour or two to forget a dream completely, so I'm always impressed when people can recite details from that dream they had two weeks ago. And that "mind skip!" is a cheap way of conveying how dreams can instantly paint a picture of the whole scene without using any clear plot devices.

I had a dream the other night where somehow spiders had mated with garbage trucks, so the city was infested with garbage trucks with eight giant metal legs, crawling up the sides of buildings in a spray of shattered glass.

So I made my way uptown to 59th Street and east onto the bridge (which was strangely a suspension bridge, more like the Brooklyn Bridge than the Queensboro) and there were more garbage truck spiders crawling up and down the cables, so I hid on the bridge.

I couldn't see anything, but I could hear the garbage truck spiders backing up everywhere, "BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!"

Oh and my poem isn't very good (haa) but the plot is basically: I'm an animorph in the form of an insect and I'm sneaking into the airport toy store to steal a transformer. (Beast Wars, to be specific)

Hugh Janus: Kinda want to draw a garbage truck spider now...

They were those dumpster trucks with the arms that pick the dumpster up and empty it into the back, and those arms were like mandibles alongside the spider faces.
