Help me out, junior forensic investigators. I just read this CNN article on the shooting deaths of Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi. But something seems weird...→[More:]
It sounds generally plausible that it was a murder-suicide. BUT! If she killed him and then turned the gun on herself by shooting herself through the right temple (see paragraph 6), why would she have gunshot residue on her left hand (see paragraph 7)?

I'm not inclined to put a 9 mm to my own head to test this theory, but using your left hand to shoot yourself through the right temple doesn't sound physically possible to me.

If she had both hands on the gun when she fired the four shots him, she could have residue on her left hand, right?

Ah! Of course. (Though if that's the case I wonder why the article [or the coroner's report] makes the point of specifically saying the residue was on her left hand, rather than saying it was on both hands.)

I watch too much "Forensic Files."

A high school friend of mine died like that. Asleep, shot in the head by his wife, who then turned it on herself.

It's amazing that someone this unstable got a gun that easily. Well no, this is the US. . .not amazing at all.

A report I heard this morning said she "shot herself so that she would fall into his lap." I wasn't sure if that meant she was trying to make it look like they were both murdered, or not. It might explain some of the contortions if she was.
