Last night I hosted a nifty couchsurfer...Ibti of "A Bikeable Feast." She's biking around the USA for a year to learn about sustainable agriculture.[More:]She started from Washington, DC, in April, and is now making her way through New England. She arrived at my house last night with a perfectly loaded pannier-packed bike, describing her unconventional packing list which includes a dress, in case she runs across a Samba night, and an assortment of vital spices.

She's on her way to Concord and then Vermont, and plans to make Seattle by October. She's a fun, lively person. If you think she'd like to visit your area - see your interesting local farms, farmstands, orchards, vineyards, etc - definitely get in touch. We had a nice chat. And here's her Flickr, with a random photo a day from her travels, and her FaceBook page.

Oh, and one of the coolest things about her trip is that before she decided to do this, she didn't know how to ride a bike!
OK that is really neat. I just left a message on her Facebook page. If she goes to the Dane County Farmer's Market in Madison WI (one of the biggest and best I hear) she'll likely pass through my area in northern Illinois. What a great trip ... I wish I could tag along.
