So, [More:] today, I had an appointment in the city, near my after work bar, so i stopped in for a drink, hoping to kill a light hearted hour or so. I was told upon entering by Phil, that Jack, my usual after-work barkeep's body had been found inside his apartment the night before last. he was a swell guy and a true racontuer, who recently served BTGOG when she came to town. RIP Jack, I'll miss you.
Oh how upsetting for you.

It's a drag. One of the older regulars mentioned a memorial service, and I demurred a bit, and he said "You were a regular, Jack knew who you were. He busted your balls, which meant he liked you." He lived in Manhattan, but started out in the Ravenswood Houses in Astoria. He told me about seeing bands at the Fillmore east back in the day, like my uncles. He also apparently did a lot of drugs back in the day, but had cut everuything but cigarettes and the occasional beer out. But he was diabetic and overweight and pushing 60. Like I said, RIP.

Hey man, sorry to hear it. He was salt. A guy like that will be missed by more people than he could ever imagine. Death is close all the time, so we gotta live now. Here's to Jack.

I guess I picked an appropriate night to inflict some major damage on this bottle of Jameson. Here's to your loss, Jon.

I'm so glad I got to meet him. He seemed pleased and intrigued when I said I'd heard a lot about him. A truly hospitable gentleman.

Such a sad story. He'd probably be glad to know that he's being remembered so fondly.
