Lucid Dreaming Follow-Up - I'm Now Able To Comment On My Dreams While They Happen... →[More:]
Seeing as my evil-drag twin The Whelk is sharing his dream life, so must I. It is prophecy!
Lately I've started lucid dreaming, not from any effort on my own - it just started happening a month ago, when I became fully concious in my dreamlife.
But another development has happened lately that I think I also significant, and I want to know if any other 'Chatters do this in their dreams also.
Mainly, I'm starting to analyze/comment/talk to other characters in my dreams about what's happening.
So, instead of freaking out and waking up when the truly surreal stuff happens, I sit with it instead and just see where it goes, or even talk to the other people in the dream about what their motivations are in doing stuff.
Silly case-in-point: last night I dreamt that The Kids in the Hall decided to play a prank on me and not tell me my girlfriend wasn't going to be home for a visit I had planned (I was evidently living in another city and was planning to stay for three days with her). So they decided to pretend to be everyone in the house when I arrived, and just mimic them to see how long I went before I noticed.
But instead of doing the usual, "woah - last night I had this weirdo dream about KITH and a visit, can't remember alla it...", I actually laughed at the joke in my dream and the rest of it was all about asking the KITH cast about how they pulled it off.
We all got to be buddies and the pranks continued on throughout the dream, and every time I was just enjoying them rather than being flipped out or confused.
Anyway, I guess the main point here is lately I've been getting a serious overlay of tourist-like objectivity in my most surreal dreams, where I can just sit there with them and get more involved in the backstory.
I think in real-world translation, this must be just an outgrowth of my recent volunteerism, especially around crisis work. Still cool, and more fun at night, though.
