OK, maybe you've heard the rumours. (I actually got a call from a MeFite who's also a reporter, even)about this shit. [More:]Yes, they were filming a scene for a movie of his in my store. I worked the door, meaning that I stood outside in the rain and told people selling books to scram until later. They was no mob of fans, just maybe 5 or six rubberneckers. Nobody at our store saw anything, but then again until I image-googled this joker, I wouldn't know him from a hole in the wall. But rumors have been all over the net all day and people off the street were asking questions, and we got calls from papers including the New York Post. I can only imagine the headline. I was half tempted to call my reporter friend and say "Buy me a drink and I'll tell you all I know," then down the booze and say "I know nothing."

We did however get free coffee and donuts from the craft services table, and I learned of a new genre in fiction: NASCAR Romance Novels.
Dammit. More inside, please!

re: NASCAR romance novels

After Danica Patrick took IndyCar Rookie of the Year in 2005 and attracted quite a number of female fans to that racing league, NASCAR has been brainstorming on how to attract more women, and a series of romance novels was one of the possibilities suggested. I didn't think that would ever happen though.

NASCAR romance novels.

NASCAR romance novels.

...I'm going to need a while to process this.

It's not the first time the Romance genre has subdivided in weird directions. It like the Pop-Tarts of the literary world.

Pop-Tarts, dammit.

NASCAR romance novels? How does that descriptive prose go?

Her heart pounding, she gave in to the pulsing desire. She wrapped her legs around his velvet rims and strapped her hands across his engines.

Wait, no, that's something else.

They've been around for at least a couple years, I think. I helped somebody make an interlibrary loan request for one a while back.

I find RPatz singularly unattractive. I don't get the fuss. In fact, I find a lot of NASCAR drivers to be hotter. Maybe I should start a line of gay NASCAR romance novels.

Note to self: never, ever become famous.

See, that's actually good writing.

I'd rubberneck him because yaknow, he's got that cute scruffy handsome jaw lazy eye english thing going on and I'm terribly indiscreet when I check guys out. It's getting worse as I get older, I'm going to be a wolf-whistling granny.
