Whoa—I just shit about a million tiny bricks.

Very cool. Though Aretha really doesn't come off very well in Logo, and it fails to catch the glory that was her hat.

Yeah, I missed the hat too. Loved the PortaPotties though.

At the end, when Congress was menaced by a giant black man*, I think they took the metaphor too far.

* May not be an actual black man (he's in shade), but bear with me.

He got the buildings around the Capitol totally wrong, not even close. With all the work he put into those buildings, it seems like a pretty big detail to overlook. Perhaps he just repurposed stuff from another installation?

Wait--I guess that's supposed to be the Pennsylvania Avenue parade route? But then, he'd have to rotate the Capitol 180 degrees for that to be right.

I don't mean to nit-pick. I'm more confused as to why he'd spend so many hours getting the little details right and ignore the big ones.

It's the official Legoland Park, and it's a compressed version of DC, just like all the other world capitals. Think "impression", not "recreation".

They also didn't want to turn the model around, so they knowingly put the inaugural festivities on the wrong side.

Aerial. Story.

Thanks for the info dhartung. The story makes it clear that the model was built before the inauguration, which explains why Aretha's hat is under-represented--there's no way they could have anticipated that beaut.
