OMG! Deserted Mexican Island Filled With Freaky Lost Plastic Children! This is a birthday present from me, the birthday boy, to all of you. Happy Birthday! (Article is Safe For Work, but the link at the phrase "Download our free Miss Mindy pin-up lovelies here" has a NSFW image.)
Wow. They're not kidding about the vast network of canals.

Uh, I meant to add, I feel like Percival Lowell.

Why are damaged, washed out dolls so scary? Is it because of their uncanny-valleyness? or because of the movies we've seen?

I used to watch Globe Trekker late at night when PBS would air it, and I distinctly remember the segment from the Mexico City Guide episode that toured this island because it put the presenter at such a loss for words (not that they're known for their eloquence, but hey). Part of has to be the setting... this vast, mostly abandoned, man-made, slightly Everglade-like lake, the type of place that messes with the human imagination. As for the dolls themselves- assuming he did, as suggested, care for them, it's a somewhat unique way of presenting caring...

Bonus Extranormal show footage.

It's the movies we've seen.

The first word that popped into my head when I saw that article was "Chucky."

It's what the dolls once were - some little girl's beloved toy. At some point it's outgrown and thrown away or lost or stolen. Maybe that'll happen to me, too.

Or maybe it's the movies we've seen.

Today is Allen Ginsberg's birthday. || What would be the worst possible place to work?
