Hard to say if that was the guitar's fault. Billy and Rusty both use wireless systems on their guitars as well as wireless in-ear monitoring. Frank Beard is a real pro: keep that beat happening no matter what happens.
They're such pros. Definitely, the sound cutting out could be anything. Funny coincidence, though, during the first clip I see of Billy playing the Versoul, its sound cuts out. Ronnie Wood has one too.
Supposedly Billy Gibbons has one of just about every guitar ever made, including a whole bunch of one-offs.
I just read an article in an old guitar magazine about his guitar collection. Some of his guitars are so rare that his insurance company will not allow them to be photographed or mentioned in print. Maybe that's hype -- this is Billy Gibbons after all -- but it makes for a cool story.
I always liked how Billy was willing to give the mic over to Dusty so often.
You know the opening lick to "Rock n Roll Never Forgets"? When I learned how easy that was to play, I decided to buy a guitar. Deep Purple got me wanting to play guitar in the first place, but learning that Seger lick pushed me over the edge. It's been a life-long obsession ever since.
If you ever want to see how easy it is to sound fantastic, watch a Ted Nugent video. The only times his hands really move around is when he wants to do something flashy. I would say 80% of his rhythm guitar playing is single-string work. He completely turned me around about how to play rock.
