The 21st Arrondissement: Why is my neighborhood suddenly and inexplicably filled with Francophones? Long lines of well-dressed women crowd bakeries, Nannies correct their charge's nouns, and the smoking crowds outside bars are packed with strong, foreign smoke. Have they always been here, among us, and I'm just now noticing? Or is something far more sinister afoot?

I keep trying to figure out why THIS neighborhood. Is it all the bakeries? The food shopping? The dusty old culture? Cause it's not young Parisians who are so French, it seems to be bourgeois (I am using the french term! shut up!) couples with maids and Aunts and Kids and Correct Opinions who speak french in public and cause my head to spin, trying to translate before they switch to "Oh, yes, of course, the rye loaf."
