I can barely break 300...Stuff like this makes me feel like Lisa Simpson when she meets that smart girl. The one who's dad comes up with the anagram for Alec Guiness? Remember? Genuine Class? Anyway, yeah, I"m a dumb guy with games like this!
Well, I've found that the 2x bonus you get for clearing the line-up is worth the points. So if you do "me" or "or" or "an" it's totally worth the consequent feeling of being unimaginative.
Ooh, this is fun. Got 826 my first game, but that was with a 205-point word (zenith 39 Points +2.5x Word Length. +2.1x Multiplier). I'm a *huge* Scrabble geek, though, so I think I can do better.
Unfortunately, until it starts raining, I have to go out and cut tree limbs. I'll play again this evening.
I get better with each game, but still haven't broken [redacted due to embarrassment]. I suck at remembering all those two and three letter words like qua. Got 50 points for zag, so that was nice. The last game kept throwing me tons of "i" or lots of constants. I hate this game.
Observations: (1) Fun (2) Too much Joss has made me believe you can append a 'y' to anything; their dictionary doesn't agree (3) I almost threw my keyboard out the window when I had 'vixens' and made a typo and got penalized for it instead.
Okay, I've played about ten more times and only bested my original score once, with an 891. It's gotten to the point to where if I miss a letter or ruin the multiplier, I'll just junk the game and start over.
I got 556 my first game... lots of little words. I nearly cleared every single letter though; I ran out of time at the very end, sitting there with a "t-h-a" already typed in, waiting for another letter to drop - then realized that there were no more, and before I could finish changing that to "hat" it was over.
Started playing this a couple weeks ago when it showed up on Mefi. Great game, and it's had a few finesse additions since then. HEre I go: 615! It is totally addicting.
I am wondering about strategy for this one - because the multiplier goes up for each legal word that you play, it almost makes sense to play very short words at the beginning and save your letters for when you have racked up a big multiplier. If you can think fast enough to do that.
I am also wondering about the trade-off between getting a clean slate with a short word and maybe getting a longer word. Have to think about that more.
I think it over-penalizes you for typos though, geez.
