What is something that you say to your spouse or other live-in person every single day?[More:]Life can be very repetitious sometimes. For one of my roommates, it was always "did you water the plants?".
"I love you".

I can't think of anything I say every single day. . ."I love you," while true, would become sorta forced and jaded in that it's impossible to go through each day with those feelings at the surface, amidst all the stuff and irritations.

With my ex, it was always "Is she/he still living here?"

"How was your day?"

"I love you," to my wife and son. Most of the repetitions are to my son: "How old is this sippy cup?" "Let's check your pants." "I need a nekkid baby" (at bath time). Etc.

The repetitions go up big time with kids, at least babies and toddlers. Routine is what saves you with wee ones, so routine becomes much of your daily life. "It's baff [bath] time" is a daily incantation of almost religious significance, as are "Let's have some suppy" and "Let's read some stories." In the case of extreme unmanageable fussiness, there's my favorite incantation: "Do you want to watch a [usually Muppet] show?"

"Hey babe" or "Hey sweetie" when I/he walked in the door or woke up in the morning. I miss that.

Well, it's just me and the bunny, but everyday before I leave for work I say to him "Bye Sen, have a good day!" and when I come home I say "Hi, bunny!" in a really high pitched voice.
I forgot that this is kind of weird, and did it in front of a houseguest a few weeks ago, but she was nice and said it was the highlight of her visit.

Achieve me and hold my bones for ransom.

OK, it is an antagonistic relationship but we love each other,

we're big "I love you"-ers; we say this nearly every day... but with variations: "did you know I love you?"; "did I ever tell you I love you"; "do you know how much I love you?" (followed by some example of a really big number... like ... do you know how many pages there are in this book? do you know many words there are in all the pages of this book? do you know how many letters there are in all those words? do you how many letters there are in all the books ever written in all the languages and alphabets in the world? That's how much I love you.); and the very silly "Do you love me as much as I do?" There are some even sillier ones, but I'll spare you.

Other than that, we have the poop report (dog, not human); we have the coffee request; we have the weather report ("it's another beeyootiful day!" or, "it's not such a beautiful day today," or the occasional "it's weird outside today"); we have the cell phone reminder most days; and usually we have some kind of muttering about food. I think that's about it.

I can't think of something I say everyday. We both say "I love you" "Get off the computer" "Let's go" and "I'm going to bed. Goodnight." a lot. I say, "dinner's ready" five days out of the week.

"I love you" and "sweet dreams."

And for the doagie: Didjoo form a doddy?

(That's right, folks. I ask my dog if he crapped the way a confused teen asks Yahoo Answers how a babby is formed. It's awesome.)

"I love you" at all sorts of random times of the day, often when I'm asking her to do something like me a cup of tea or coffee but especially at bedtime. Sometimes if I'm concentrating on something I might miss her mumbling "love you" at me, so she'll repeat it louder and louder until I respond. This amuses me no end.

"how was your day?" (I usually say this, sometimes it's her tho.)

"what's for dinner?"
"nuthin'"
(again, same script, roles are interchangable)

"How was your day?" to my spouse, and "What a clever baby" to my baby, when we play clapping and mimicking games in the morning.

I love you, have a good day.
Did you feed the cats?
Did you let the dogs out?

"What kind of lives are these?"

Mrs. Beese and I are (half) joking when we say it - usually when we find one of the whippets sleeping in our bed. But we do say it just about every day.

various made-up words that are too embarrassing to repeat here (to the spouse)

"You horrible cat" when I get the full claws-in-thigh treatment, usually as punishment for working too long and ignoring him.
posted by altolinguistic 19 May | 08:58
Me: "I'm heading to bed"
Him: "Ok, I'm going to tuck you in because I love you."

Every night. *Every night.* The handful of times we missed is because one of us wasn't there.

"I love you" is also said daily but only as a response to one or the other farting.

:) Yeah, so far I think my marriage is pretty good. After nearly 10 years together, this week marks our first wedding anniversary!

I just asked my husband for an example of what we say to each other every day, and this was the example he came up with:
"Wanna go to the gym?" or a variation thereof, "When do you wanna go to the gym?"

If you could hear the phrases we repeat daily, it'd make you barf.

Or so my sister tells me.

I haven't lived with another person in quite a while, but when my old, beloved, consummately useless cat was alive, every day upon leaving the house I'd tell her "Be a good cat! Guard the house!" Which never ceased to amuse both her and me.

I love you, drive carefully, what do you want for dinner, how was your day, sweet dreams, have a good sleep, I gotta poop/pee*, did it all come out okay, are you going to/I wanna take a nap.

*What can I say; we have one bathroom. And sometimes it seems the other person has taken up permanent residence.

I tell my cat that he is the best kitty that is now, or has ever been, or will be, every day. In case he forgets.

Back when I lived with my parents, the daily question to Mom was "How's my maaam?" and the exchange with Dad was "Dude." "Dude." "Wassup?" "Notalotwassup?" "Notalot." My sister and I went for weeks without speaking when we were growing up, so we were doing well if we acknowledged each other's presence in some way.

Happy anniversary, eatdonuts.

Lots of "I love you"s here. Plus variations like "you're my favourite" or:
- Have I told you lately that I love you?
- Yes, just this morning.
- Well thank God we don't have to go over that again.

Also, "stop that!" (when the mister starts poking me because he's bored) and "you'll pull back a bloody stump" (if one of us makes a move towards helping ourselves to the other's dessert).

Husband: "I love you"
Also: "Can you help me up?"
(I broke my knee last fall and often need help getting to standing when sitting on the floor)

Son: "Monkeybutt!" (and, of course, I love you)
