A Question About The Movie Stepbrothers..... [More:]

For those who saw it, I have a couple of questions:

1. What drug did you do to make the movie watchable? Did you decide on a mix of five-dollar shake and No-Doz, or get ripped on Freixenet and a group-investment 50 of coke?

2. When you realized that the movie was going on for as long as it did, what was your reaction?

Did you finally get under the crawlspace of your house to look for dead feral cat remains, or try tackling the grout in the bathroom with an old toothbrush?

3. When the plot faded into a white hiss in the background of your mind, what did you do about consciousness? (I'm assuming now that the shake is down to stems, and your budget didn't include pimping for another bottle of mimosa mix?)

So, just curious. I always appreciate tips from other people who've seen the same movies I have.
I knew I'd hate this movie and I DIDN'T see it. Did you really think it would be any good?

I can't help you. I gave up on Will Ferrell years ago.

via fell asleep, and I think I had a few beers and still ended up on my laptop waiting for it to be over. Did you watch the "unrated" version? I don't know what the point of those are any more, and Stepbrothers was particularly abusive of the format.

But Ferrel's on SNL tonight and it's been pretty good.

That movie looked terrible in trailers, so I never saw it. Codeine makes most terrible movies acceptable though, for future reference. Especially when washed down with a vodka soda.

I watched it while stuck in a hotel room. John C. Reilly is still okay--I think it's because of the middle initial.

Also, I can't resist a tuxedo-at-a-job-interview gag.

I actually found the first, maybe half, freaking hilarious. It was so low brow. But yeah, I laughed really hard at a couple things. It did go on wayyy to long though.

Hopefully I'm not outing myself as a philistine here.

I was willing to give it a chance because Will Ferrell is so capable of being stupidly funny in a good way. But this movie wasn't that.

I'm with richat. The first half was better than the second half, but isn't that almost always the case with comedies like this?
I find the Ferrell/Reilly duo pretty irresistible in general. I gotta ask - what were you expecting? I went in expecting an enormous plate of stupid and got just that. I don't see the point in criticizing plot when it comes to goofball comedy. But that's me.
