Palin signs deal to write book for HarperCollins Neither Palin nor HarperCollins would not say how much she was being paid. Asked why, the governor and 2008 Republican nominee for vice president said she didn't want to distract from the substance of the book. ... The governor said she wants to do a lot of the writing herself...
"The governor said she wants to do a lot of the writing herself..."

Oh, that's a great quote.

I don't know what she's thinking - the market is already crowded with children's books.

I look forward to coloring in it.

I have a perverse desire to be Sarah Palin's aide-de-camp / campaign manager / etc. It's like the most challenging turnaround job in the universe.

Or is it like being the Octomom's publicist; it doesn't matter how good you are if the client is a trainwreck?

The governor said she wants to do a lot of the writing herself

That'll keep it at a George W. Bush reading level.

Neither Palin nor HarperCollins would not say

Hey, journalist: You didn't need a "not" after using the "neither-nor" construction. That there's a double negative, which is kind of frowned upon in formal written English.

Sigh, I'm really tired of hearing about this woman.

They better hurry, will anyone care by the time this is published? Does anyone care now? I can't see her being relevant to the Republicans for much longer.

Selected excerpts:

"How To Save All Those Newspapers People Have Been Putting In Front Of Me All These Years"

"I Learned To Field-Dress A Moose And Run A State And Also, Too!"

"What God Said About What I Name My Children"

"Winking: The Holy Orgasm"

I'm sure it'll be a big moneymaker. Really, what else can you say? It won't have any literary merit, it won't have any dirt, it won't have any revelations, it won't have anything in it that hasn't been focus-grouped to death.

Wait, here's some stuff: will there be a big sheaf of color photos in the middle? I'm thinking yes. Will she read the audiobook herself? I'm thinking yes, but it'll be seriously abridged. Will the Zondervan edition have an extra chapter about Jebus? I'm thinking nope, that it'll be subtler than that.

Another great quote:

"It will be nice to put my journalism degree to work on this and get to tell my story, Alaska's story. There have been so many unauthorized books and publications that have spoken to somebody else's opinion of who I am what my family represents and what Alaska is all about," she said.

This I-am-Alaska branding... what do you think?

I'd be annoyed if I were Alaska.

Wait...if I WAS Alaska?

Man, I had a friend call me out on a slight grammar mistake recently and now I'm afraid and frightened most of the time.

"If I were" - that one. Subjunctive mood.

"Which newspapers do you expect to review your book?"

"All of them."

So some of my grammar instincts are intact! Whew.

She should seriously contemplate reading Looking for Alaska by John Green before writing her book. A good journalist always does research, you know.

Also, she shouldn't write her book. A good journalist knows that sometimes less is more.

And finally, I have lost respect for Harper Collins. Okay, that's not true. I understand that there are some unpleasant business decisions folks have to make. Like laying off thousands of employees, or saving the lives of twenty people on a train while killing one. Hmm. Couldn't they have made one of those decisions instead?

I'm holding out for her tell-all shocker about the Wardrobe Scandal, called "If I Did It."
