The Last Temptation of Carrie Prejean Dobson: Why did you give the answer you did with regard to the affirmation of marriage?

Prejean: . . . I felt as though Satan was trying to tempt me in asking me this question. And then God was in my head and in my heart saying, "Do not compromise this. You need to stand up for me and you need to share with all these people . . . you need to witness to them and you need to show that you're not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA." (via)
Is this still news? Sheesh, media, dead horse already.

I just consider it evidence of God's omniscience that he's familiar with the Miss USA pageant.

I'm so sick of that broad and her martyr act. Particularly since she'll lie whenever she feels like it.

"he's familiar with the Miss USA pageant" - That is the biggest problem with this story: she was runner-up to Miss USA. Not even runner-up to Miss America is worth this much press. Perez Hilton has probably done more to advance this woman's career than had she answered all PC-like and won the crown.

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have gay marriages, and, uh, I believe that a mand and a woman like such as in South Dakota and, uh, the implants everywhere like, such as and I believe that they should, our gay marriage over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., er, should help Satan and should help the Miss USA and the topless pictures, so we will be able to compromise our future for our children.

Anyone who can't tell this gal's 'principles' are nothing more than opportunism and duplicity has earned their own deception.

Why does anyone with a clear head and an age past twelve even give a shit about this? Giving foolish people like this any airtime at all just makes more of them next time.

James Dobson? Perez Hilton? That pageant girl? God? Satan? It's like a perfect storm of people whose opinions aren't important to me.

Of all people whose opinions I might care about, a non-winner of a pageant does not rank very highly.

Some right-wing blogger types are trying to pump this up as an example of left-wing PC oppression of Christian values. Poor little Carrie got punished by the bad gay man for disagreeing with the liberal orthodoxy or something like that. It's sort amazing that they've latched onto an even lamer spokesperson for conservatism than Joe the Plumber. I can't wait to see who they come up with next.

Ever since Cristol Palin, it's been all downhill. Or was it Bristol? Hell, I never remember these names.

"an example of left-wing PC oppression of Christian values" - That is because it is, except the left-wing is using her as an example of right-wing hatred, bigotry and denial of fundamental human rights, which it also is. They're both right, except the right is fundamentally wrong. Fundament is such a fun word. Well, the Republicans can kiss my fundament. heheh

I did think some of the comments directed against her were immensely shameful. Miko, again with the implants and the topless pics--I don't get it. I thought the whole reason we were progressives was we supported women making choices about their bodies. Even if it means competing in a pageant! (shock, horror.) Especially after the topless pics came out the comments on huffingtonpost etc. just nauseated me. I mean even before Hammurabi the idea of "we disagree with her, let's strip her and point and laugh" was seen as pretty reprehensible. Why are we not supposed to hate Charlize Theron for posting naked for a dior ad? What the fuck people?

In what sense is her original answer different from Barack Obama's position? I don't support gay marriage but in our country we should have it?

As for Perez Hilton, fuck that guy. I love how someone who makes a career out of being a major-league hater (but he's just kidding!) is gonna get all Mr. Righteous Indignation; it's like people at gawker getting a fit of the vapours and calling her a barely-naked stripper, painted whore, etc. Real charming, fellas. It's pathetic.
