This outrageous practice of selling cut-and-shut bunnies to the unsuspecting public has got to stop. To the untrained eye it may look like nothing's amiss, but us experts can tell those ears are from two completely different rabbits. If that rabbit gets into an accident it'll just split in half, more than likely killing the occupants.

I think cillit bang offers a bold assertion here. However, now that we are indeed all "down the rabbit hole", vis-a-vis melded bunnies, we must now face the subtextual implication.

We want the cut-and-shut bunny. We want the Other, the implied despair and possible annihilation that this pet provides. The possibility of a lapine singularity ripping out from the small enclosure.

The photo tells us all we need to know - the lifted ear is a subtle reminder of our mortality, our fascination with death. "Ask not for whom the ear tolls, it tolls for thee...."
