She was truly a force of nature. RIP, Bea.

(And wow, she was 5'9"?? I'm the same height, and I always thought she was much taller than me.)

BP, me too (I'm actually closer to 5'10"... so I guess I was actually taller than Bea Arthur, who I always thought was about 6 feet!)... though it all makes a little more sense when you realize that most actors in Hollywood are really surprisingly tiny. Like seriously, most of them can fit in your pocket. So given that, I guess she was a regular Sandy Allen.
