Hey guys we are married now! →[More:]It was a kind of an ambush wedding. They were going to do it "in two or three days" after submitting all documents, but when we showed up they filled it all in, and gave us our marriage certificate.

That's it! No vows, no kiss, just take your document and go be married.

Dilya is happy - she was so fussed about getting to a hair salon, deciding what to wear, and now that's all moot - too late, you're married, as you are.

You know, me and the missus, we also just signed the papers at the Ichikawa City Hall, and that was it... no preachers, no vows... no problem! And we're going on 13 years now. It's been good. Wishing you the same and more.

woo, congrats! Those are the best ceremonies. it's not about some huge cake or big dress you'll never wear again, you made the day about what really matters. (That, and faceless international bureaucracy. Which always adds verisimilitude to otherwise romantic stories.)

This sounds ideal. Cuts through the anxiety and the frills, and gets to the part where oh my goodness, you're married! (Yesterday while discussing wedding plans, I turned to The Fella and said "Your family likes surprise parties --- maybe they could just throw us a surprise wedding?")
