It does remind me of The Office. I thought the clip was mildly humorous. I love the cast and I might watch if I could get my act together and take the time to watch a show or two.
I record shows but never watch them. I just caught up on The Office and honestly I'm not that interested any more. When is Curb Your Enthusiasm coming back? The only thing I'm watching right now is The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.
I liked the pilot ok, but I wish I'd liked it more.
I'll be taping the second one tonight to watch later. I think it will improve as the cast starts to gel more. The Office definitely improved over time.
Lori: Is #1 LDA any good? I've read not great things about it so I haven't checked it out yet.
There is a lot about the LDA that I like. The scenery and production is excellent. As are most of the supporting actors. A lot of LDA is quality, as in "this could be a movie" quality.
Every episode wraps up nicely and is predictable, which I don't like. Sometimes it's ridiculously far-fetched. The last episode I watched Mma Precious cut a pocket watch out of a crocodile's gut within seconds using a small knife she brought along. I imagine cutting through a crocodile is not like a cutting a cooked turkey.
I haven't read the books. It's a decent show and my husband and I both enjoy, so it's a keeper.
Speaking of, one of the bad guys on LDA is the new boss on The Office.
I wish the writing were a little more assured. It is new and all, but not quite as authentic in sound as on The Office. This seems like a show that isn't sure what kind of funny it wants to be.
The idea of a show based on town government could go in some pretty funny directions. But the thing is that they way town governments are ridiculous isn't quite as broad and silly as these jokes seem to be.
These comments are based only on my shallow impressions of the two-minute preview.
