BWA HA HA IT'S JUST YOU

kidding. everyone else is probably still doing their taxes.

Not only are we mailing out our 2008 forms tomorrow, but I just did my 2007 forms tonight. I'm bad, I know. I didn't owe anything and I knew I was getting a refund, so I'm just dumb and not horrible.

Me.

Of course, me being in Aus, I was six months late. Have to catch up to grab my chunk of the free stimulus money.

Finally decided to file for an extension. Separating taxes and shit is too damned complicated.

Um. My state return is sitting on my desk at work, stamped and ready to go. But I just HAD to wait until today to actually send it it. :-)

I did mine and mailed them in January (and then had to file an amended because the last jackass employer decided that they wanted to be super slow on sending the W2).

I'll be filing another amended this Friday, woo.

I filled out the forms months ago, but had to pay both state and federal this year, so I put off writing the checks and mailing them until (almost) the last minute.

Dude, not only did I do my taxes, I SMS:ed my results to some automagic doo-dah and got a receipt that I was done. I feel so high-tech!

Eh, I'll do them next year.

The UK deadline isn't until January, thank dog, though the tax year has just finished. I have a nice lump to pay "on account" before the end of July :/

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Normally I file for extensions out to October 15th and eat the interest when doing taxes (I have three sets to do, too, long story).

This year my mom (business partner) and I resolved to get them all done by the 15th. Of April. We started working on 'em in January, and signed returns/checks and mailed 'em all off on Saturday.

Fun fact. New Mexico requires you to send your state tax return to one address. And your payment of any tax due to another address entirely. We very nearly mess this up every single year. WTF NEW MEXICO?

Anyway, that's one resolution that's fuckin' RESOLVED. Feels purty good. :-)

We did them online a few months ago, got our state return a few weeks ago, and our federal payment (3X the state return) came out our bank a/c the other day.

Our little tax credit is currently chewing on her sock on the floor.

Phsh, did them, got the refunds, and the money's gone already. (Well, not exactly gone - it helped to get me a bit ahead). But I can raise Mr. V's hand for him - he waited until the 14th.

Filed my extension last night. Should have gotten them done over the weekend, but didn't. sigh. Life is too complicated.

Me, too, theora55. I actually put the extensions and checks in the mail today. (You know how usually you drop your mail in the slot and hear a little dropping sound? Not today. Today, the box was full enough so my letters sild in and rested on top. Golly.)

Now that I've filed for extensions, I can sit down next month or sometime this summer and figure out the labyrinth that 2008's taxes have become. That's a mercy.

I completely screwed up my taxes a couple of years ago, and got quite a jolt when the IRS notified me of my error. I'm eager not to do that again, though they were quite pleasant and helpful.

I decided to get mine done early this year, so I did them late on the night of the 13th.

We had ours done a month ago but he have an accountant do ours. It's a couple hundred dollars but our stuff is pretty complicated and we figure that it's worth the money in the lack of stress to our marriage it brings. If something goes wrong, we can blame Bob and not each other.

Well, with everything else going on, I barely managed to finish a rough draft of my parents' taxes -- for 2005.

This was the last year they could file and receive the refund due, so they had to be in, and in fact 06, 07, and 08 wll all have to be filed before they can file for bankruptcy.

Anyway, I had to rush up to Madison (45 min. drive) to the main PO there to get in under the deadline, and of course -- not only did they eliminate the stamp machines, but there was only one "Automated Postal Center" and a line. I had to stand for almost an hour to get up there. It seemed every other person was there for something complicated OTHER than taxes, and the USPS employee helping them out seemed as exasperated as we were, the line stretching out the door, and people having to pass the information amongst each other that if their mail was already stamped, they could go in to a little table and get it cancelled. But if they needed even one stamp, they had to wait in line.

Some opted for the surcharged stamps across the street at the grocery store. Don't blame 'em.
