Fun 70's Music Project For Next Week! [More:]

Okay, so I'm covering the 70's show again next week at the station, and came up with a kickass theme:

What I want to do is do a set where we take a seminal 70's band, like say Steely Dan or Yes or the Doobie Brothers and pair them up with a 90's or current band that obviously has been directly influenced by them.

Play them back to back, say. So you'd bet something like Starship Trooper by Yes paired with something by The New Pornographers off the Challengers record.

Where you come in, Mechazens:

Help me with this pairing. Help me discover the Doobies, and Fleetwood Macs and Journeys of today.

The show airs next Monday at 10am. I await your amazing input.
This is a great question. I wish I knew something about music of the 90s!
Since I'm no help, you might try Pandora or last.fm.

Gringo Star might work for one. Black Mountain would also be good.

I'll think on this for a bit because those might be a bit indie rock...

Elton John / Bee Gees --> Scissor Sisters
Talking Heads --> Franz Ferdinand
Moody Blues --> Radiohead

You'd have to choose the right songs to make these work. for example, on the last one, I'd use something from "Days of Future Passed" and then "How To Disappear Completely" or something else from "Kid A."

Midlake has a lot of that vibe, for sure.
Particularly these two songs:
