The corpulent, blind, fatuous consumerism that defines Western culture. And even now, has seeped across the globe.
This portrait is everything sweet taken to an absurd extreme. There's hardly any bunny left here - only a bloated, immobile blob that somehow suggests the idea of the lapine.
The subtext is obvious - someone has made this so. Someone has allowed this corpulence. Has allowed, even encouraged this bunny to become so immobile that not even its eyes are able to open without herculean effort.
We are all to blame. Although we are out of the frame, we guiltily look on, knowing we are just there, at the edge, witnessing our own willful destruction through largesse.
But the bunny, in its inertia, in its subverted guise, reminds us all of our complicity.
