Not a Norwegian Blue... One flopped into my front yard last night and nearly got itself eaten by the local feral tom cat.
→[More:]It couldn't fly very well but I couldn't catch it. I managed to herd it up onto a nice high fence out of reach of cats. This morning it had vanished, so I was happy that it had managed to fly off.
However, I found it sitting in a shrub in my backyard this afternoon - shivering and looking generally unwell. I managed to trap it underneath my wicker washing basket (minding the beak - they can do some serious damage!) and ran off to find a box to stuff it in so I could take it to the local vet (they treat native animals free of charge) but somehow the blessed thing managed to get out from underneath the basket. It's currently sitting at the top of a 60 foot tree looking as sick as ever.
Grrr! I guess I either find its body in the next few days or the feral cat will eat it or, possibly, it might recover. Doesn't it know I'm trying to save it's bloody life? Stupid soon-to-be ex-parrot! And now I'm upset - I can see it shivering miserably from here.
