Michael Apted's Up Series [More:]

Just now getting into this, as they had the whole run at the library. Who else has seen it, and what did you think? Favorite characters, moments, etc?

Spoiler alert: I've only viewed up to 28 Up.

Topic for discussion: how well do you think it treats the original idea of "give me the child at 7 and I'll give you the man"? How well do you think it examines some of the bigger issues, i.e. class distinctions, racial equality, opportunities in life?

I couldn't stand to watch it. It was uncomfortably exploitative.

I found it moderately interesting, but not really very memorable. I've got a copy of 49-up sitting around here somewhere that I've only half-watched.

I bought the set a few years ago, but haven't watched 7-21. Several people decline to be filmed and then come back. The original idea---enhh. I think it serves as more of a record as how the world has changed since the sixties, though one woman points out that what's shown isn't always the full picture.

I've watched every series, at the time of broadcast. I think it's probably run its course by now. I remember being terribly moved by the plight of Neil in 28.

I own the whole series and watch it often. I find it fascinating.

As much as they protest what class does to dictate their paths, I think it does.
