Weekend plans? [More:]
Tomorrow I'm going out early and staying out, because this is taking place a few yards from where I live. It'll be mayhem.

I'm going to the Ideal Home Show. I love home shows, all the room displays, the cookery theatre, the home and garden stuff and - most of all - the gadgets. Oh, the gadgets ... the As Seen On TV type of gadgets, 99% of which are utter rubbish, but sold with such sincerity that you think you're privileged to be allowed to hand over your money.

I loooove watching the demonstrations, trying things out (the Scarflace is a particular horror - a polyester scarf with a clip at each end, in vile prints that nobody would ever wear that you can turn into a fake blouse by tucking it into your waistband. You just have to remember never to take off your jacket. It's truly vile but people must buy them.

So, rampant consumerism on Saturday (although I rarely buy anything at these shows).

On Sunday I'm going to a friend's birthday party, but it clashes with a big televised game for Man Utd, which I'll have to record and watch later, hoping nobody tells me the score.

I'll try and fit in a trip to the gym somewhere in there too.

How about you? Whatcha doin'?
Tonight I'm seeing The Class again because I liked it so much.
Tomorrow I am visiting my grandmother for the day.
I might try to meet up with friends at night for a drink if I'm not too tired.
Sunday I'm going to the gym to get my butt kicked and then I'm going to a comedy show.

Stayed home today to wait for the dryer repairman, so I've been working on some of my photos from our Vegas trip to post on Flickr. Also went to the camera shop to pick up my developed film from said trip.

Tomorrow, we're taking my mom and driving up to Chattanooga to see my new niece! We're only staying the day, and it's about a 2.5 hour trip each way, so that'll be it for tomorrow.

No real plans for Sunday... probably do our grocery shopping for the week and that's about it.

Tonight: Cocktail party for a friend's birthday that involves a competition to come up with the cocktail most pleasing to the honoree. My entry is aged tequila, lemon juice, agave nectar infused with jalapenos (which I'm making myself) and pear juice. I hope to win.

Tomorrow: The Red Sox take on the Mets at the new Citifield, and we have tickets! MSU-Connecticut game on television in the evening.

Sunday: Scrabble and the women's NCAA semi-finals.

Tonight, dinner at a friends house.
Tomorrow, visit to a neighboring town to check out a new house some other friends are building. Tomorrow night, Tar Heels play, my husband is PRAYING that they show it on the local ESPN.
Sunday, a trip to another town known for its strong arts and crafts traditions. I want to buy something special for the house we are about to purchase.

Headed to the farmers' market tomorrow morning, then down to Pt. Reyes. (What, you don't know it? Here. You must go.) GF wants to go kayaking, but I'm going to agitate for hiking in order to save the money. Then to Berkeley; will stay at her studio there, and go to a party her classmates are having. (Yuck. Hate parties. Especially hate parties thrown by grad students who really like to talk about their program. Yuck. But I'm being good; I'm going.)

Headed back up here on Sunday, where the weather will hopefully still be okay for mowing and gardening. Supposed to get rainy early in the week. Glad we haven't already planted tomatoes and peppers like all the other dupes.

If I get my act together tonight, I'll mix up some sourdough to sit while I'm gone so I can bake when I get back on Sunday.

Tonight, I'm going to a pal's house. Probably have a few beers, probably help him fix the brakes on his bicycle, maybe try to talk him into watching my ILL copy of Proteus.

Tomorrow, work, then lunch at the park, then more work, then a bike ride, probably to a restaurant.

Sunday, I dunno yet.

Today was my day off. Went through bills and such over coffee with my dear dad, who is patiently helping me sort everything out. He has a talent for organization which I did not inherit. Then I took my mother to the opera (Dad doesn't like it, but I am sure he just hasn't seen the right one). La bohème, which, though far from my favorite (maybe I haven't seen the right performance, but I wish someone could explain what I'm missing), was nicely sung and produced. We had burritos afterwards.

Tomorrow I will put primer on the battered furniture I've been collecting from various curbs, prior to painting it all smoky blue. Then I'll mail my writing contest entry, and go to work.

Sunday, more work, probably more painting, and watching The Barchester Chronicles, which hopefully won't suck. I will try to knit another foot of my horrible practice scarf. Possibly some drinking as I pick away at my writing contest entry, which I will regret having mailed, and despair of ever writing anything worth reading.

Hooray, mullacc!

Last night we watched the last two DVDs of Firefly. Now I am sad, because there is no more Firefly to watch.

Today, hoping to finish or at least make serious progress on a spring cleaning of the TV room, which I've been putting off because the next step involves getting up on a very very tall stepladder to clean off the ceiling fan and vacuum some exposed beams, scattering dust everywhere in the process. Will be making either penne with roasted puttanesca or mushroom & andouille risotto for dinner. I'm also hoping we'll be able to fix the stupid fucking goddamned spray thingy on the kitchen sink, which has gone from not working to shooting the handle off and soaking everything in the vicinity just when you think you've managed to reattach the thing. I have given up and put the hose in the sink, where it can waste vast amounts of water without drenching me, the pass-through, the counter, and the clean dishes in the process. (I hate those things. I think I've only ever seen one that works. And there's no separate water shut-off for it. Grrrrrr bitch moan complain.)

Ahem. Where was I? Oh, yes. Also, today/tomorrow I hope to finish the second baby blanket for my brand new niece who was born a few days ago and still doesn't have a name. Woohoo! I can't believe how excited I am about her. Unfortunately, I may not be able to see her for some time, so I will make do with knitting things. After this blanket is done, I'm making her a fuzzy stuffed beaver and then a bunting bag. It looks like I won't be able to see her for some time, so I'm both really happy for and somewhat envious of BoringPostcards.

Sunday is my 'no list' day of rest, so I think I'll just make us a fry-up of some sort and then read library books and knit tiny things and maybe go for a walk or do yoga or something.

I am bone tired and promise to post some pics soon but I have spent almost every single weekend of the last 15 building riased vegetable beds in my backyard. Sinking posts and concreting them into place, nailing in the boards, filling them with topsoil and compost, and finally over recent weeks PLANTING!!!! Yeah!

I'm also trying to dig over the last garden space but the soil is so clayey that it is taken ages. Might just plant some potatoes this year to break up the soil a bit.

Outdoors I have Garlic, onions, sping onions, carrots, cauliflowers, potatoes, lollo rosso, little gems, sorrel, rocket, broad beans, a pumpkin, a courgette, a tomato (yes I know it's too early for these last 4, but I'm experimenting!) parsley, marjoram, thyme, coriander and lots more lettuce seedlings coming on.

Indoors I have tomatoes X6, green peppers X10, basil, cayenne peppers, coriander, sweet peas, mangetout, and broad beans.

All these new ones join the apples, peaches, cherries and plum trees, a citrus, the raspberries and rosemary & lavender I've had for years.

I had been promising myself this for about 4 years. Me soooooooo tired!
