Coconut water Do you like it?→[More:]Just tried it. Yuck. Sort of like gatorade but without any hint of sweetness. Did I get a bad coconut or is it an acquired taste?
I love it. You probably got a bad coconut. Some taste great and some just suck. The stuff out of the can is artificially sweetened to keep the taste consistent. I don't like that as much as the unadulterated thing.
Oh lord, I love coconut water. I drink it every chance I get, either out of a coconut, or processed and bottled. As a matter of fact, I just drank some about an hour ago.
The only time I ever tried coconut water was last summer in the Dominican Republic. The groundskeepers of the resort were tidying up, saw me enjoying the beautiful morning on my patio, lopped off the top of a recently fallen coconut, and gave it to me. I thought it was delicious. Surprisingly cool, not an overwhelming flavor (And I am not a coconut fan normally). If I wasn't warned before that it was a natural laxative (and this was the day we were flying home), I would have had more.
Nope!
I don't like coconut flavored stuff, dried coconut, fresh coconut, or coconut water (I've had it a bunch of time and it's kinda boring tasting). For some reason, I do like the canned coconut milk stuff in curries though.
The sweetened cans of coconut juice merely taste like sugar; however
there's one brand that's unsweetened that I adore. It is distinguished at the HippieMart by the blue colored can and stylized human shapes, not unlike the 'bean' people you get in PowerPoint slides.
