The thing is, here, we first visualize the bunnies, and then we see that we are floor-level with the bunnies.

We are thrust into a newer realm, not of bipedal concerns, of car doors and escalators, but of kitchen tiles and warmth. The bunnies, when seen at their own angle, as if we were one of them, remind us of how close we are to the earth, and how easy it is to return to a simpler time.

And yet, we also encounter menace here. There is something slightly sinister to how the foreground AND the background are both inhabited by a lapine Other. Which then forces us to re-adjust our safety levels, our identities, the comforting background symbols of our daily round.

The razor's edge, between the known and unknown, the familiar and safe and that of an as-yet-unrealized world.

Will the bunnies advance upon us, or turn tail? This, is the conundrum we all must face in the 21st century if we are to advance as a species. The bunnies are harbingers of our own Janus-faced nature.

Whereas I just spent a good few seconds looking alternately left to right at that picture and going "bunny! ... bunny! ... bunny! ... bunny!". It's like whenever I focus on one bunny, there's another on the other side I just can't help looking at instead.

That bunny in the foreground is a scary dude.

Looks like he's about ready to fuck me up.
