When real life meets cyberspace [More:] So I keep a couple blogs, and family and friends and even the occasional mechazen come to those watering holes of the intarweb savanna. These are safe havens I suppose, because I control my blogs, and family members whose blogs I visit have control of theirs.

But Mrs. Doohickie's sister has signed on with a bicycle forum I hang out at. Will this cramp my style? Do I have to watch my flirting (not that I flirt that much)? Will she just post a little and go away?

I'm not quite sure what to make of this...
You'll have to stop this. Otherwise, she'll push you out of the cool high school crowd and make you a second-class member. Just like here.

Maybe she will just post a little and go away. Or maybe she will read every word you say and use some nugget against you until the day you die. Ha, just kidding on the second part. I wouldn't worry. I don't think she'll cramp your style. Keep it cool and don't say anything you wouldn't in real life. I know what you mean, though. If my sister or other family member were on Metachat I'm sure they'd be rolling their eyes left and right at my comments. :-)

The internet and real life are/will increasingly be the same thing, and definitely so on sites where you're identifiable. Don't freak out, just be yourself. If you think you flirt inappropriately in a way your wife wouldn't like, maybe curtail that, but other than that I don't see that there's anything to worry about. Give her her privacy, too - no need to stalk her around the forum.

Kill her now, save yourself a lot of grief later.

We've already covered how to mask the smell of the dead body.

OMG you guys....! This is my sister-in-law! If she ever follows me over here and reads that, she might freak out. I probably would!

Hey, Doohickie's sister-in-law, don't worry, it was just a joke. Doohickie isn't going to kill you because of advice he received here at Metachat.

Suicide might still be a possibility though.

No, there are plenty of other reasons for him to kill you, apparently, which you can find if you search the archives here.

Does anybody actually follow MetaChat advice? I kinda view it like my hair stylist's movie recommendations and do the opposite.

If you follow MetaChat advice, you ask your hair stylist out on a date.

This is excellent advice.

See what I did there?

I think that depends on the strength of the relationships you've built within the MetaChat community.

For me, it's rarely "MetaChat advice" but "X's advice which is backed up by Y, Z, and W's advice. R and S think differently, but I don't hold much store by R and S anyway, and I'm pretty sure N is just giving me shit", in which I know X, Y, Z, W, R, N and S from MetaChat.

After the Spousal Unit regained her strength from almost laughing herself to death she would dump my body in the same hole with Doohickie's SIL.
