One for the Photoshoppers - Make me a clown. Here's your chance to do something for sick kids. And for those who find me an irritating boor to take out your aggressions. [More:]

In a recent thread, I related that I would like to be a clown and visit children in hospitals. But a clown needs makeup and although I could easily use the classic Bozo face, I do not really have the design skills to create something unique.

If we have enough interest, I will post an auxiliary thread to go along with the usual Photo Friday for you to post your creations, so leave a comment here if you intend to participate. Anything goes. If you want to do a full body costume design also, I have a Santa Claus belly.

Heheh, now if only I could think of a unique clown name... ;-P
I have zero visual design or 'shop skills, but I just wanted to say this is awesome, as are you.

Ah shucks, mct, thanks.

Also, if any of you belong to Photoshop groups and want to pass this project along to them, that's cool with me. The more, the merrier.

Additionally, you can eliminate the facial hair or add more in.

Would you shave it though? Tom Raymond, aka. Raynbow the Clown has a full beard but he uses the space on the chin for part of his white mouth makeup. I was kinda stumped at the flava sava you have under your lip. Perhaps go a little more whiteface, and then draw those thin elongated lips that end in little bulbs outside of the beard (where smile dimples are). Clown makeup needs to be applied on the person because how it acts when you move the face is key, potoshopping is just a guessing game that could be all wrong. I think you'd do well to do your eyes a bit like Tom's though, big white patches and then draw your natural brow all black, ending it slightly above the brows so they become cartoony "block brows" that animate a lot when you move them. You really have to start testing making faces while applying makeup, it's fun!

I'm rubbish at explaining, in a minute a badly photoshopped image will appear.

I am clean shaven right now. I bounce all over from clean shaven, mustache only, the little underlip thing, to full untrimmed beard. Applying a false mustache and/or beard is no problem.

"how it acts when you move the face is key" - I would have to adapt a design to my actual contours and expressions. I chose that picture (taken by dashiv) because I think it is the best representation.

Tom Raymond's site is in my bookmarks. It's a great primer.

Oh, you don't have to stick to purely clown makeup either. I know my way around women's cosmetics counters, from foundations on up.

Se I think highligting the cleft chin is fun but you could do the extras in another color, match the wig or something, do the laughlines and cleft in, I dunno, green or purple and go a little crazy wide with the thin red lips.

Aha, clean shaven, well then you could do ANY mouth but I really think you should do something with the chindimple (it's dimple in english, right?) and do those block animated straight up (little sad even) brows because I'm guessing that would animate really well when you're making faces.

I vote that your clown name be Nerpapa.

For whatever reason I'm picturing a long, waxed and curled up mustache. Like Dali only painted on instead of real.
