*sniff* [More:]It's true. I asked at the McD's near me and they didn't have. I don't think they knew what the hell I was talking about, frankly. When I asked for a shamrock shake, they just said 'vanilla, chocolate, strawberry.'

This is a sign of our nation's decline.
I love the first comment in that link. Yes, netizen, shamrock shake = "negro cookie."

I felt like that the first time I went into a bakery in the south of England and asked for an 'elephant's foot'. I got a blank look and ended up with a scone. Apparently they're called 'choux buns' down here. (For the uninitiated, they're a gigantic profiterole, at least 6"-8" across and 4" high filled with whipped cream. The sort of cake where you end up with cream and chocolate all over your face if you eat it properly, that is, with your hands, not with a fork. Delish.)

A couple of years ago I was queuing in the baker's when a man in front of me asked for one, and the girl looked at him as if he was an alien. "I know what you mean", I said, "but they don't speak North down here."

I wonder if the "negro cookie" comment is responding to the Carvel ad, though.

I doubt it, stilicho. Cookie Puss (in all it's permutations) has been around for decades.

Wow, why does "Cookie Puss" sound like such a naughty term? I'm going to have to look it up now.

My wife, with her multi-ethnic heritage, can't bring herself to order frozen coffee at Dairy Queen.

Ouch. Tell her to get a Blizzard instead, they're better anyways.

Ook yuck. Is there any organised protest of that? That's disgusting.

My boyfriend's work had a costume contest yesterday. He wasn't planning to dress up, but I had to explain to him why my face turned red and my teeth started grinding.
Seriously, why is "dress up like some drunken ethnic stereotype!" day acceptable and not viewed as horrifyingly offensive?

I'll let you know, kelly, just as soon as I get my finger out of this dike.

I did not know that there was an amazon.cn || If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise ...
