Saw the movie Z today and boy, did it suck. [More:]

Poorly paced. Indifferently acted. Cardboard characters making speeches at each other. I found this to be a boring film that hasn't stood the test of time; i'm sure that this film was interesting in its original politically charged 1960s context, but separated from that era, it just can't stand on its own as a work of art.

So . . Happy St. Patrick's Day! Don't waste your time and money on this film!
I remember seeing as a teenager and being impressed with it but I haven't seen it since. I have a high tolerance for "boring" films though.

What octo said. I was impressed in my teens but I have not seen it since.

When I was younger, I wanted films to be deep.

Now, I want them to be fun -- not cheap, stupid mainstream-Hollywood fun, but fun nonetheless.

I saw it about five years ago and thought the style was very much of its time but Costa-Gavras really made the hair on the back of my neck stick up often enough.

(Plot-wise it's more obvious than it seems because of the cinema verite process. But it's not really a complicated plot in some ways.)

The circumstances of its own filming are hair-raising enough.

Put it this way. It was an inspiration for a lot of the 1970s conspiracy thrillers. But it was about a real conspiracy. Kinda puts Parallax View or Three Days of the Condor to shame on that score. So it's hard to judge it as mere entertainment.

Anyway, hey, Futurama theme right in the middle. At the time it threw me for a loop and it wasn't Googlable that this (now I know to be famous) song was the source. I was right on the verge of putting up a web page about it when my Dad got cancer and it fell by the wayside.

The URL contained a malformed video ID.

Can you re-post that link, stilicho. I'd be interested to hear it.

It's Psyche Rock, by Pierre Henry, sort of a landmark synth piece as I understand it. (In the movie it plays over a transition scene.)
