Obama's No Socialist. I Should Know. (Normally, I do not do political posts or participate in political posts here and elsewhere in the MetaVerse. But I happened upon an editorial in a mainstream newspaper that I ACTUALLY AGREED WITH, amazingly enough. So I decided to share it here.)
You don't get to be a socialist in the US without having a very good sense of humor. Or a very bad one.

When I was an exchange student in Germany, I met and talked at length with true socialists. The Socialist Party USA is as socialist as the Libertarians are libertarian. IOW, not very. True, they are more left-leaning than your typical american blogger of progressive persuasion, but take their measure as actual socialists and the needle barely scrapes the edge of red.

That's a fair criticism.

But I kind of doubt that the Washington Post would give an editorial spot to a member of a Trotskyite newspaper cult.

Yeah, too much risk of canceled subscriptions.

I would imagine that the majority of Europeans are more socialist than both Obama and the assorted members of the American Socialist party.

The majority of Americans are more socialist than they think.
