Milk - Straight to DVD? Did it get anything approaching a general release to theatres?
It played here in Pittsburgh so it must have been in general release but it did seem to get to DVD pretty fast.

It played in San Antonio for quite awhile.

Everything goes to DVD fast now, because most movies only make back their profit once they are released on DVD.

It was in Vermont. I'd think that means general release.

It played in Asheville for weeks.

It didn't come to the main theatres in Anchorage, only the second-run theater brought it up about a month ago.

I live in Hollywood, so I have no clue what 'general release' means to the rest of y'all, but it was the toast of the town here for months.

It had a respectable run throught the arthouse type cinemas here in Melbourne, Aus. It's still showing at my favourite local cinema, albeit just one session a day.

mykescipark, 'general release' means that it actually shows in a city that's not LA, NYC or Chicago. Limited release is frustrating as hell to those of us in the hinterlands.

It played for a long time here in Bethesda at the mainstream "independent movie" theater. And looking at the showtimes in Phoenix, I see it's still playing at two AMC 30-plexes and one AMC 24-plex. Sounds like a wide release to me.

Widest release: 882 theatres

Probably as good as could be expected.

The DVD release is certainly timed to take advantage of the Oscars.

882 is better than I expected. I didn't expect the DVD until April.

It took awhile to get up to Eugene but it's still playing. It was a very weird rollout.

Surprisingly big poster campaign in London, and 131 screens in the UK (which is towards the low end for a national release, but a national release all the same). Looks like it just missed the box office top 10.
