Is it just me, or...→[More:]...was watching Jon Stewart eviscerate Jim Cramer on the Daily Show one of the most wonderful things ever televised?
As a not-money person, part of me thinks those "experts" on cable news know *something.* But they don't, which is sort of hugely "wow."
Many moons ago, I worked at a stockbroker (as a back-office shitkicker, nothing fancy). The first year I was there, the firm won an award from BRW as being the broker with the most accurate picks for the year. The hit rate was something like 45%.
There's something to be said for dartboards (though there's more to be said for diversification).
Meatbomb, the argument I read on that exact topic in either the Guardian or The Times is that newspapers are bound to rules of fact checking and that it's hard for them to make such statements. FWIW
Oh, and I hate Martha Stewart even more now. She's disgusting.
Aw, but a friend of mine was just on her show this week, demonstrating how to make funky retro raffia flowers for brooches and stuff. So she's at least good for helping self-employed crafty girls get lots of hits on their etsy pages.
