Yeah, I was totally like, "I *need* to click on this... I haveta find out what pickle glasses are."
Plinth, you are handsome. Have you considered contact lenses? (I ask because you didn't mention it in your Ask, and because I think they would look good as well.)
Contact lenses are not really appropriate - I'm farsighted - my glasses screw with distance vision pretty badly, so until they have flip up contacts or I start losing my distance vision, it's reading glasses for me. Oddly enough, my distance vision is way better than Mrs. Plinth, who is nearsighted and wears glasses to correct for that.
and I'll tell you why... because your hair, beard and moustache are all the same color, you are getting too much of a monotone thing going on, and while a darker brow would break that up, your brows are actually lighter, and though thick enough, sort of blend with your skin. Then add the wire frames that are kind of the same tone and also blend, and you've got a really one-tone palette. Except for your eyes, which are a lovely color, and should jump out more, but don't, really, with the wire frames.
I know something like this may seem kind of too bold to you right now, but think about it, and try some on in this sort of style; you would actually get used to it a lot faster than you think.
These happen to be Armani Exchange. Excuse the photo shop - it's messy, but it was really hard because the glasses were at an angle, and your face was forward...
Also, I say rectangular, not round. You have good, strong features, and the round frames seem to work against that.
Interesting, but they unfortunately violate the Flexon (or equivalent) rule. Trust me, I am become Death, shatterer of frames. My current frames are the only ones I've ever had that I haven't destroyed inside of a year - it's really important to me.
I'll admit, I noticed plinth's hawtness during the recent "Post a pic of yerself" Photo Friday, but I said nothing. Instead, I planted a chip in Doohickie's brain.
Here's my pickl: Flexon Select 1140, thick enough frame to stand out but not so thick as to be hipsteresque, and getting them in brown would probably flatter your coloring. Apologies for the crap Splashup shopping-
I agree with notquitemaryann, but with a smaller lens area (which actually, those 1140s may have - it's so difficult to tell for sure about the size in relation to face when photoshopping...)
By the way, another vote for bringing an artistic/stylish friend with you when you go to try on frames. While I have fun picking for other people, I totally can't pick for myself. If I hadn't brought my friend when I got the two pairs of glasses I have now, I never would have picked these, which I love. And the pair that I was most dubious about in the store are the ones I like the best.
