The B-52's on the soap opera "Guiding Light," in 1982. [More:] They "played" (okay, lip-synced) two songs, "Throw That Beat In The Garbage Can" and "Private Idaho." Unfortunately the clip of the second song is missing its audio, so I didn't link it here.

Ha. Eighties soap opera people are funny.

I can't think of any bands that I've seen on TV shows. I know I've seen a ton in movies. The only one I can think of at the moment is The Mighty Mighty Bosstones in Clueless.

Fred's dancing reminds me of Steve Martin for some reason!

there used to be a youtube clip of the Ramones on Sha Na Na, but it seems to have been removed.

Hey, wasn't that 90's band Sugar Ray sort of a major part of the American remake of Father's Day?

I'm sort of ashamed I remember that movie.

Thank you, the B's rule, and I love seeing early stuff from them. B52s on a soap clearly beats Megadeth on Saturday morning cartoons but that's all I have at the moment.

My favorites are guest muscipons on Sesame Street. Johnny Cash with Big Bird. Stevie Wonder with Grover.

muscipons?

B52's are full of awesome. Thanks BP

arse_hat, that Stevie Wonder is great on Sesame Street, him playing Superstition is freaking awesome on that. I love how the band plays it straight up, and not trying to make it a kids song, because it already is.

Country music acts used to regularly "perform" for a minute or two at the end of "The Dukes of Hazzard". The excuse was that their tour bus had gotten caught in Sheriff Roscoe's speed-trap and they would have to perform before they'd be allowed to leave.

I have to admit that I was a Guiding Light fan in the day to say that I daw that B52's cameo when it happened.
