This TV ad about "clean coal" has been cracking me up, but I only found out today that it was directed by the Coen Brothers.

I love this commercial too. The little piece of coal flying around with fairy dust is the best. "Clean coal is Magic!"

My great-grandma heated her house by a potbellied coal stove. Those little black clouds in the commercial are not far from the truth.

Cute!

Can I ask a dumb question? Is there some inkling of some idea when people talk about "clean coal"? Can someone explain the issue to a non-science person? I mean, I guess there's some idea of trapping the emissions and carbon dioxide (?), but that's not actually possible ...? Or it could be possible someday or never?
