I found this while searching for some info about what I can do with a whole bunch of bacon fat. I cooked up 2 pkgs. of bacon for an event last week, and shades of my Grandmother, I just can't see throwing that fat away.
It's not even as horrid as I thought nutritionally. It has 38 calories a tsp, same as olive oil; less than half its fat is saturated, but it also has Omega-3s (MORE per tsp than olive oil) and Omega 6s. So apart from the saturated fat, which is in my diet a fair amount due to cheese anyway, it's not the worst thing in the world, even though it seems like it should be.
I just put it in a container and stuck it in the freezer until I have a use for it. That's why I was researching it - in case there was some new bacon fat recipe that had been invented since my grandmother died that I didn't know about.
