A new member of the scody family! [More:]Yesterday we adopted Duncan, a senior terrier mix who was down on his luck and needed a home. He's very tiny, very gentle, and a little overwhelmed at this point... but I think he's going to fit in just fine after he takes somet time to settle in. Zippy is definitely the Boss Lady Dog, but I think she's going to like having a buddy once they get used to each other.
Good on ya Scody, for adopting a senior dog. I hope he fits in.

He's so cute!

I love that you adopted a senior. So many little varmints just need a nice, safe, caring place to spend their later years. I would have adopted older cats if I didn't already have one.

Yep, he's just the sweetest little thing! It's funny, I had totally envisioned getting a kind of wiry, scrappy, feisty younger adult terrier as a second dog, but when we saw that sweet, scared little boy who had such a hard time for so long (he'd never had his teeth cleaned or been neutered, was covered in fleas and dermatitis when he was originally found, and had several lumps in his shoulder), we just knew we had to give him a place to finally feel at home.

Sadly the bandanna didn't even come with him... it's the rescue group's photo -- we haven't gotten a good pic of him ourselves yet. But Jan raises a good point... COSTUMES! WHEE! (Maybe I'll get him a kerchief when I go by the pet store tonight.)

Hat. That's a dog who could wear a hat.

Duncan is so cute! Congrats. He'll have a good home at the Scody residence.

Cute! He'd also look good in a navy pinstripe vest, if you happen to see one when you are out shopping.

A great thing to do. . .to take on an elderly animal. My wife and I are letting ours die off (naturally, of old age) and we are not replacing any, as, lately, we feel that all these critters (as much as we love them) hamper our travel ambitions.

This is definitely an awwwwww moment. Duncan looks pretty happy to be taken home, if the second photo is anything to go by. And Miss Zippy looks the spit of our second adoptee, Mr Loki (so cute!).
Our own resident female put Loki in his place for a few weeks, but is now really close to him. So much so that she spent the whole of Saturday curled up next to him on the sofa, keeping a big-sisterly eye on him when he was under the weather (an upset tummy, because he eats everything he finds). She still stayed with him, even while we ate ... for a dog, that's devotion.
