"Why not come along to a prayer group - it could be your lucky night." [More:]Scroll down to the bottom of the link for context. The article is covering how Britain's Roman Catholic Church advised lovelorn singles to direct their requests for love to St Raphael, rather than St Valentine. But the article ends with: "There is a lot of evidence to suggest that young people who have tapped into prayer groups have found partners," she said.
"Those who have exhausted traditional routes like online dating should try spiritual networks."

"Why not come along to a prayer group - it could be your lucky night."

Priceless.
Heh, I expected this post to be about Guys and Dolls. "They call you lady luck, but there is room to doubt...."

Ha! My younger son Andrew spent 3 years in his grandmother's church's youth choir mainly because he got to travel and the choir groups generally featured a 2 or 3 to 1 ratio of females to males.

I love how it's like this scientific correction -- 'oh, the magic helper of singles is popularly believed to be St. Valentine, but it's *actually* Raphael.' Blink. Okay, glad that's straightened out.

I'd rather skip Valentine and Raphael to make an offering to Venus.

I was in school choir in eighth and ninth grades – a full fifty-minute class every school day. There were about twenty girls to us four guys. Unfortunately, I was in my most-awkward teenage years and unable to benefit from the situation.

I wanted to click on the 'oldest Valentine's letter' pictured in that article, but it didn't work :(

I'm sorry, I'm still quite stuck back at:

"Clare Ward, spokeswoman for the Catholic Enquiry Office, the official body providing information on Catholic life."
