Hello everybody. I've fallen through the fingers of god & ended up in Huntington Beach, CA. [More:]

I'm really, really well & hope all of you are, too.
Happy to hear that.

Falling through the fingers of god doesn't sound good to me.....

God's hand hovers above California, ready to smite.

Is that a fancy way of saying L.A.?

Hi, item!

A fancy way of saying 30 miles south of LA, maybe. I'm living 2 blocks from the beach in downtown HB, getting some insanely needed rest after a somewhat challenging year or two.

I'm feeling friendly. Hello!

Apologies for being snarky. One of my cousins has lived in Long Beach for three years and loves it. I keep asking her if (as per CA law) she has 'chosen' what sex to have on her state D.L.

Monterey for a year of language school was a dream; living in Cali is so much not what people that have never been to or lived in Cali will ever think.

Welcome to the neighborhood. :-)

(Well, okay, I'm in Venice and/or Hollywood, depending on the day, but that's close enough for me.)

Good to see you around, item. I owe you an e-mail or two. Long story, but I, too am escaping the tendrils of the metroplex.

OMG Huntington Beach! Some of my college friends lived there for awhile and I have fond memories of surfy beaches and the insane bar scene (sort of a dangerous mix, actually).

I'm glad you are well and feeling friendly. I miss California like crazy.

As Susan Brownmiller noted "All women are female impersonators to some degree."

Ah, Huntington Beach bars. Once I asked for a Jack and Coke and the best they could do was rum and RC. Good times :)

Enjoy your stay!

Huntington Beach, CA

If you haven't read Tapping the Source, you should. A little dated (OK, a lot dated), but the best surf-noir novel ever written.
