10 February 2009

Slade Epie. c.1992 - February 10, 2009. [More:] Slade, a domestic feline of Richmond, Virginia, was fine for a very very good many years, until last night, when he wasn't. He stayed the night at the vet and those who cared for and loved him sent him off this afternoon in chemical viking style.

He enjoyed eating, sleeping, and singing in his distinctive English Schoolboy accent. He leaves behind a mysterious early life that landed him on the streets, an adoptive human mother and father, and a canine sister. After meeting both his human Grandmothers and failing to establish a positive relationship with either one, he decided that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg was his real Grandmother. Let us hold her and her health in our thoughts today as well.

There will be no memorial service.

Sorry, rainbaby.

. 17 years is a good run for a kitty but I lost my 17 year old cat two years ago and still miss her. They pack a lot of personality into those tiny little brains.

I'm so sorry rainbaby. Heck of a good obituary, though. Rest in Peace, Slade.

Thanks, redvixen. The cat had a sense of humor. And thanks all. The house seems a little quieter tonight, but I have a s'load to do, so I'm just trying to do it.

Ah. It's for real, he was fixated (by us, of course) on Ruth Bader Ginsberg for a long, long time.

And it'll be hard to do the house March Madness pool, as the two humans picked for the two pets on a rotating schedule. Maybe Sladey (Epie equaled e-pie, not eppie) will still get a bracket this year.

*sniff*

Here was our cat's viking funeral, a depiction of her journey to the next world. Oddly, it helped me to see this in my mind's eye, and I offer it in hopes that it might suit your kitty's style, as well.

My condolences.

A toast to Slade. May you find plenty of catnip, sunshine, and bits of fluff born on gentle winds.
