Photo Friday. Kids with Pets [More:]
Being 'kid-less' and not really knowing any kids, there is a dearth of photos in my album on this theme, but I look forward to seeing yours.
Hey Mum, turtles!

I think this qualifies!!

ach; oh, hell. I should have seen this before we out on our jaunt today; multiple opportunities, but one especially because it was a young teenaged boy... like 13, 14, maybe, so a) I wasn't so tense about holding the dog (I'm sure she would never bite - yet w/small children I'm super-extra-ultra-obsessive careful. They do weird things like banging her on the head as a petting thing, and if she ever did bite, we'd probably have to put her down. She wouldn't, and she's totally patient and not nervous or upset or scared at all around kids, still...)

anyway, and b) he was utterly smitten. He was with a posse, all "gangsta", and they were like, "c'mon, c'mon, let's go" and he was like, "fuck you, I'm petting this dog". He probably weighed 75 lbs soaking wet, tall and awkward lanky, but "mangas" as they say here... not a shrinking violet or go-along-to-get-along; tough guy. It was kind of cute.

that's my word-picture, for the moment

I LOVE the expression on the dog's face in that first one, gomichild.

A friend's son with my dog. The dog could only calm down around guests if he was on-leash. The son needed a task to keep out of trouble. It was a brilliant solution.

Oh wow, these are all so cute. I have a photo of my younger nephew with the dog (the boy loves the dog so he walks over and starts pulling the dog's hair, so the dog gets up growling and goes over to another corner of the room; the boy chases the dog around the room this way; sometimes if he thinks nobody's watching the dog will nibble on the boy's fingers, which only encourages the boy; of course, the dog loves the attention but can't wait for the boy too grow up a little) but it's not my place to put pictures of my brother's family up on the internet, ya know? But all these are wonderful, keep 'em coming!

Okay, you've gotten my nostalgia thing going. So here are a few very old ones:

That's my son on the left (he's 17 now) and Toby, who was the best dog in the entire universe. Yeah, sorry, he was. I love the dogs I have now, but Toby. . well.

My son and Toby again, plus that's part of my daughter there on the lower left. I love love love that picture of butts on the upper right; it's framed in my kitchen now.

Toby looks like he was an awesome companion for your tribe (^_^)

Okay, you guys are posting amazing things. Gomi's "meeting of the minds", dabitch's skeleton/kitty shot, crush-onastick's b&w and mgl's "butt" photo are some of the greatest pet images I've ever seen. srsly.

My friend Noelle took that butt photo btw. Is it not the best thing EVAR? My son finds it excruciating, bonus. ;-)

Camping near Talkeetna two summers ago with my boyfriend's brother and a few friends, we met Anna. Lacey had never really trusted kids before, they moved too fast and were too hyper and scared her. But after some fits of barking, Anna became Lacey's bestest friend because of four little letters: "Lacey says she wants to go for another walk."

Damn, I miss that dog.

My son George with Yoko, a few days after we did a marathon drive down to Michigan and back to get her from a rescue.
That collar is long gone, I hated it. Reminded me of Teva sandals.

My son was born into a household full of critters:

Walking the dog at two, my son would solemnly lift his leg at every bush, just like the dog. (Note the two leashes. The blue one is an emergency brake.)

With the other dog in our yet-to-to-landscaped yard. This dog adored my son from day one (the other dog was "meh, kids") and was especially attracted to the taste of his head so she followed him around and constantly licked his hair.

With a goat. I don't know what those little furry goat neck dingleberrys are called, but my son really likes them.

Naked, with a hamster. The eyes are supposed to look like that.

With our current dog, holding a Forbidden Item that he only gets when he goes out with his dad on hunting trips.

Oddly, there's no pics of my son with any of the cats. The cats are his favorites (he's sorta "meh" about the dogs, probably that whole head-licking thing) so he takes a lot of photos of them. All his photos look like this.

I agree with taz, some really nice shots here, all sorts of happy! Good thread, good thread y'all. Also, jamaro, that picture cracked me up. Heehee.
