New Zealand Inmates Foil Own Escape using the story device from about 10 different 1970's sitcoms.
70's? I'm pretty sure that gag goes back to silent movies in the 20's. Still funny though.

You're right.
But I vaguely recall there being many, many different TV episode plots that were driven by the "accidentally handcuffed together" device.
That and "we just can't get along...so we decided to divide the room in half!"
