Anybody read Ms. these days? I grew up with it and it did a lot for me, but sometime in the 90s I got kind of alienated from it - it seemed to lose some relevance to my life, though of course I was still a feminist. It just got a little boomer-focused and didn't seem to be addressing a wide range of issues women were experiencing. How is it these days?
A true feminist man would not have kept silent when the "bros before hoes" images first appeared.Given that the president has told thugs to pull up their pants, he could have easily said something about his image being used this way.
A former neighbor of mine is mentioned in the article about the untested rape kits in California.

Me, too. Then I discovered bitch, which did everything for me that Ms. used to, only better and with (IMHO) a lovely sharp sense of humour. I haven't read an issue of bitch in a while--haven't been living anywhere I could just pick it up--but this reminds me that I should get a subscription when I can.
I used to really, really like Bust - in fact I was a subscriber. But in the last couple years I realized I was aging out of the demographic. It was great through my late 20s/early 30s, but the last few issues I read were very much about hipster musicians, sex, and various forms of fashion. There's nothing wrong with those topics but generally I'm not out looking for that content much anymore.
I still wouldn't mind writing for them and have a few pieces in mind if I ever have the time.
Bitch is good but a teeny bit angry/dour for me. I really like fact-based reporting from a whole lot of cultural angles - media, pop culture, politics, high culture, academia, etc. - on topics like what's happening globally, leaders in business and culture, health and family issues, trends, ads, activist campaigns, personal experiences - presented with crispness. some humor, and strong thought. Nobody really seems to have exactly that mix just now. Bitch is probably the closest but it could use a bit more brightness - both visual and editorial.
I concur with a lot of the views above. I grew out of Bust, for sure. Bitch is worth its cost in the sense that it provides meaty content, but I find the level of commentary I used to get there I could find online if I sought it out. Ms I don't know if I've ever bought -- but that cover is amazing.
