I got my stuff from my evacuation from Georgia finally. →[More:]The package of my clothes and shoes showed up yesterday, and I went through the box today. Even though we left in early August, the stuff took a crazy long time to get here, due to the port of Poti being closed up for a while and me moving from the home of record the Peace Corps had for me.
When I was taking stuff out, I found a page of a Georgian Newspaper. I was wondering if my host family put it in there as a message to me, but if there's any significance, my Georgian skills have degraded enough that it's all gibberish. I can (painfully) slowly read out words, but most of the vocab is long gone.
Breaking down the box, I found
this taped to the box. It is a flattened out metal ring that would go around a Vodka bottle. It's from the Gomi vodka factory, which was in my training village (Gomi) and down the road from my house. This definitely had not been in my house, as I hid my drinking from them (good girls drank very, very rarely, and I really needed them to think I was a good girl).
Anyway, this came at the same time my Georgian language instructor emailed me for the first time. It's all just got me feeling pretty weird and sad. They've all been in my thoughts, but I honestly have no idea how to help.
