Ah, but the IRC FAQ page didn't help, see. Both of the quick start option links don't work. I downloaded chatzilla, and it says I'm not allowed. OH, wait. i'm on. woot.

My connection gets reset and when chatzilla attempts to reconnect, it says my username is not allowed and won't let me in, even after repeated tries over several hours, Which is a shame, 'cause I brought doughnuts.

Sounds like you're encountering this known bug.
