Looking for a few good HIV, Cancer or Hepatits sites. I've been charged with designing a website for a foundation that gives medicine to people with HIV, Hepatitis, Cancer and other diseases. Said foundation is composed of idealistic, activist people.

I'm looking for quirky, creative and compelling sites dealing with these or similar issues. Something that makes you get out of your seat and volunteer / donate.
I did a similar search for a regional charity serving the blind and came up with damned little. Most looked amateurish (given the funding, no wonder), many were too informational to be compelling, and the rest just seemed to be begging. None of them seemed to draw much traffic. They used the funding to throw a celebrity fundraiser instead and did much better than what we figured a website could pull.

My conclusion: to do this right, a charity must invest in a professional agency with experience in this kind of work. The web is like TV now; anyone can make a commercial for used cars in the local market, but that shit won't fly in primetime.
